--- title: Actions url: 'https://asedg.ch/en/actions' markdown: 'https://asedg.ch/en/actions.md' lang: en date: '2026-09-21' description: 'ASEDG in action: a free collaborative platform and two pilot projects in citizenship education, in Guatemala and Togo.' --- # Actions ## Our Actions ASEDG implements two action means. **Two pilot projects** are currently underway: in Guatemala and Togo. 1. **A free, secure platform** The [HUB](https://asedg.ch/hub) *(currently in development)* — a collaborative space dedicated to education in democracy and governance. 2. **Support** in designing educational projects and training programmes adapted to local contexts, particularly in environments where democracy is fragile or in a consolidation phase. ## 🇬🇹 Pilot Project — Guatemala **Timeline:** 2025–2026 Since December 2025, ASEDG has been supporting an initiative led by **Kulanel Qanima** in the Totonicapán region of Guatemala, a territory marked by a rich Mayan culture and tradition. **Main objective:** Support the official structuring of Kulanel Qanima as an association in order to develop sustainable educational and community projects, adapted to local social, cultural and linguistic realities. [ Information about the local partner ](https://www.canva.com/design/DAG5_TzrT30/LAqVyNpyyPUEfOSxfLrTSA/edit) ### Areas of intervention - Training teachers and young leaders in democratic citizenship - Valuing indigenous knowledge and Mayan community practices - Dialogue between traditional Mayan governance and democratic participation - Developing contextualised participatory pedagogical tools - Promoting the engagement of young people and women in community life ### Approach - Co-construction of content between local partners and Swiss pedagogical expertise - Taking into account Mayan traditions, languages and community values - Valuing local governance practices and community knowledge - Participatory methods fostering dialogue, cultural transmission and civic engagement - Reciprocal exchange of knowledge and experiences between partners - Dialogue spaces bringing together community leaders, educators and local actors ### Vision - Strengthen local capacities - Encourage active, inclusive and intercultural citizenship - Support educational initiatives rooted in the Mayan communities of Totonicapán - Showcase and disseminate learnings within the edhub4democracy network ## 🇹🇬 Pilot Project Under Consideration — Togo **Timeline:** 2027 ASEDG is developing a pilot collaboration project with the **Institut des Sœurs Notre-Dame de l'Église (NDE)** in Togo, as part of its commitment to education in citizenship and democratic governance. **Main objective:** Design and pilot a training programme for NDE school teachers in order to strengthen education in citizenship, participation and democratic governance. ### Areas of intervention - Training teachers in democratic citizenship and participation - Valuing local governance practices and community knowledge - Dialogue between traditional governance and democratic participation - Developing participatory pedagogical tools adapted to the Togolese context - Promoting student engagement in school and community life ### Approach - Co-construction of content with local teachers and actors - Taking into account local socio-cultural realities and traditions - Valuing community practices from the diverse Togolese cultures - Integrating participatory pedagogical approaches inspired by Swiss educational experience - Reciprocal exchange of knowledge and experiences between partners - Planned roundtable bringing together local authorities, community leaders, civil society actors and educators ### Vision - Strengthen the pedagogical capacities of teachers - Encourage active, responsible and inclusive citizenship among students - Support educational initiatives rooted in the social and cultural realities of Togo - Showcase and disseminate learnings within the edhub4democracy network ## 🇨🇴 Pilot Project — Colombia **Timeline:** 2026–2027 **Launch:** August 2026 **Local partner:** Corporación Desarrollo y Paz del Canal del Dique y Zona Costera Since August 2026, ASEDG has been supporting the **Cosechas de Vida (“Harvests of Life”)** project, an initiative implemented in the municipalities of **Calamar, Santa Rosa and Cartagena**, in Colombia. The project supports children, adolescents and young people facing gender-based violence, a weakened community fabric and a limited range of training focused on respect, peace and leadership. **Main objective:** to contribute to the development of active citizenship and a culture of peace by strengthening self-confidence, dialogue, collective decision-making, responsible leadership, equality and community participation. Implemented locally by the **Corporación Desarrollo y Paz del Canal del Dique y Zona Costera**, as part of *Cosechas de Vida* and in partnership with **Action Medeor**, this project is ASEDG’s first pilot collaboration in Colombia.
